The Speakers Database was a small internal system requested by the events team in Hong Kong. Incisive Media is a financial publishing and conference company.
The events team used excel spreadsheets to store information about past and future speakers. Each event member had their own spreadsheets and staff had different information in each. They needed a central place to store all the information.
I created a speakers database in Ruby on Rails. It allowed staff to store all information in one place about speakers. Event planners could also create an event and their own list of speakers but drawn from the central store of data. If they updated any details it updated it for everyone. Event planners could see who they had invited before and their responses and details.
